Lactulose - From API to finished product

Fresenius Kabi Austria comprises one of the first companies in the world to produce Lactulose Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) - the Lactulose plant in Linz, Austria. Together with the production facility in Vicchio del Mugello, Italy, which is the only European manufacturing site technically equipped to produce Lactulose Crytslas according to European Pharmacopoeia, Fresenius Kabi Austria is one of the world‘s major Lactulose suppliers.

  

 

Lactulose API is in some extent processed to finished product with or without flavours and filled into bottles (PET from 100 ml to 1000 ml) or sachets (15 ml or 10g). The finished product is packaged for world-wide export, partly under Fresenius Kabi's registered brand name.

 

The advantage of having an API production and filling line at the same site avoids long routes of transportation to manufacture finished product. The filling and packaging of the final dosage form can therefore be made immediately after bulk production. Moreover, an order-related and just-in-time production system safeguards the delivery of Lactulose finished product with a maximum shelf life at arrival at our customers all over the world.
